Back for another post!

So the thing I noticed about Japanese is that if you wanna have some conversation, you’re gonna have to start it.
Because even though just about any Japanese person you speak to will be polite and very friendly (Tokyoites a bit less I’ve noticed) you’re gonna have to initiate the conversation. For example the class today. The first class of this semester nobody really knows each other (not just me as a foreigner) and when I entered the classroom everybody was sitting quietly (reading a book, or making some notes) and about as widely spaced as possibly from each-other. Even amongst the Japanese themselves they kinda keep to themselves. No being the crude westerner that I am (and desperately seeking as much human contact as possible ^^) I initiated a conversation with a (genuine, mind you) question. The funny thing is that after that the ball gets rolling and a lot of people will join in and it suddenly gets a lot more “gezellig” (nigiyaka, there is a word aside of dutch for it).
So keep it in mind when you go to Japan ^^

Gawd today was great! I was planning to just take the day to clean up my room and settle a bit, but Sukyung-san who:s been helping me settle asked me to go to the Hanami. Which is kinda like a picnic every year at the sakura season. I met a lot of people today and ate BBQ’d shrimp, oysters, clamps, meat you name it.

Meeting people while eating delicious food, while watching beatiful sakura, gawd this is friggin great! So today a photo special of the Hanami enjoy!

On the japanese language front, I’m able to work my way through it. Now I’m here and actually using it I think the Japanese language isn’t actually that hard. As a westerner you’ll have to switch your way of making sentences, but in general if you go with the flow it will be allright. That’s because so much communication is just context based. Now I just gotta bump up my vocabulary.

Gawd I’m tired. Either it’s the hay fever or I’m starting to get a lil’ bit sick. either way I’m wasted.
